Hannah Black

Hannah Black’s work Politics (7 Color LED Display) (2023) invites reflection on the placement of each individual in the physical and social space, and on how this placement influences the experience of the world and the ability to act politically in it, generating change. This placement is not intended in a static and solid sense, but as a fluid and dynamic inset into a moving context with a thousand variables where to constantly rewrite the alphabet of relationships and interactions with the other, in a quest for the elaboration of conflicts and the dismantling of systemic violence. Discursive practice as a vehicle for managing conflicts, individual confrontation as a tool for reflecting on the dynamics of collective protest and its transformation into a political agenda, had already been at the center of the homonymous video by Black (Politics, 2022), in which two activists expanded over the concepts of revolution, violence, anger, repression.
